World-famous miniatures painting competition returns to SPIEL Essen

The ultimate Warhammer painting competition returns to the world's largest board game fair this year: The European edition of the Golden Demon 2025 will take place at SPIEL Essen from 23 October to 26 October. This means that all miniature artists from Europe and around the world can keep their diaries free and get their brushes ready.

After last year's premiere at the trade fair, it will be interesting to see which amazing works of art will adorn the showcases of the exhibition accompanying the competition this year. In 2024, over 1,000 impressively painted miniatures were submitted by artists competing in 16 categories. The participants of the Golden Demon also competed for the overall victory and thus for the coveted trophy: the Slayer Sword.

Overall-Winner 2024

This went to David Perryman in 2024, who impressed the jury with a fantastic Trugg the Troggoth King miniature and was allowed to raise the legendary sword high into the air.

This year, we can once again expect new works whose richness of detail and finesse will take our breath away. We look forward to the world's most important Warhammer painting competition with you.
